Your choices for seeing a belly dance show are either in nightclubs, hotels or on a Nile dinner cruise. 

A number of five-star hotels in Cairo offer a belly dancing show as part of a dinner/entertainment package in their night club, plus there are several independent night clubs around town offering shows, but frankly these can be very late night and smoky affairs.

Dance performances usually don’t begin until the wee hours of the evening – 1 or 2am!  It is not recommended that single female tourists go unescorted.  Hotel night clubs tend to be somewhat safer and more civilized, plus they are more used to dealing with foreign tourists. Both types of venues tend to be pretty expensive however (look out for the hidden charges!) and at the end of the evening you may find yourself with a bill equaling the GDP of a small African nation!  For example, an evening at a five-star hotel night club may cost well over US Dollars 200,- for a couple.

A pleasant (and perhaps a more enjoyable) way to enjoy a show is on a Nile dinner cruise. There are a number of different Nile dinner cruise boats operating in Cairo. Most offer a two- hour cruise, during which time you enjoy a full dinner while sailing up and down the Nile and enjoying amazing views of Cairo by night. The entertainment program usually includes live music, a singer and belly dancer, and sometimes also a Tannoura dancer, otherwise known as a "whirling dervish".

Some recommended Nile dinner cruises in Cairo include the Nile Maxim, which docks in front of the Marriott in Zamalek; the Pharaoh boats (Nile Pharaoh and Golden Pharaoh), which dock in Giza near the Four Seasons First Residence. Other boats include the Crystal (Maadi) and Scarabee (near the Semiramis).
